Voice Rehabilitation for Different Needs
Fran Montignani MSc
Trusted by professionals. Rooted in science. Grounded in real life.
Fran is a Voice Rehabilitation Specialist who helps people recover, rebuild and trust their voice again.
Her work brings together clinical voice knowledge, performance experience and practical retraining, helping the voice become more reliable in the moments that matter — whether speaking at work, returning to singing, or rebuilding after a difficult vocal period.
MSc Voice Pathology | 25 years’ experience | Voice recovery, professional voice, singing voice and specialist communication support.
Clinical Understanding
Fran holds a Master’s degree in Voice Pathology from University College London and has advanced training with Vocal Process. Before relocating to Bournemouth, she was part of the multi-disciplinary voice clinic team at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital and worked closely with NHS Speech and Language Therapy teams across the South West, supporting people with complex vocal issues.
Her work is informed by leading voice scientists, therapists and trainers, including Dr Gillyanne Kayes, Jeremy Fisher, Professor Johan Sundberg, Mr John Rubin, Dr Ruth Epstein, Lesley Mathieson and Jacob Lieberman.
Fran also maintains long-standing professional links with regional voice clinics and voice communities, keeping her work connected to current clinical thinking and specialist voice care.
Performance & Professional Voice
Fran has 25 years’ experience across performance, teaching and voice rehabilitation. Her own performance background includes work as a singer, presenter, live host, pianist and cellist, giving her a practical understanding of performance pressure, communication, timing, confidence and vocal reliability. She works with lawyers, financial executives, teachers, leaders, speakers, singers and performers — people whose voices need to recover, rebuild or perform under pressure. Her approach brings together vocal function, communication impact and practical retraining for real-world voice users.
Specialist Communication Work
Fran is also frequently contracted by local authorities to support children with complex multisensory impairments, including deaf children and children for whom spoken words may not always be available. Working alongside families, schools and Speech and Language Therapy teams, Fran acts as a specialist problem-solver, focusing on vocal communication, clarity, confidence and functional voice use in ways that are creative, child-led and practical.
A step-by-step online programme for people whose voice has become strained, unreliable or difficult to use after illness, stress, overuse, a period of vocal difficulty or a diagnosed voice condition.
The course, which has received warm feedback on Udemy, explains why voices can get stuck in protective or compensatory patterns, and guides you through practical exercises to rebuild vocal ease, confidence and function.
“This is so informative! Great to understand not only know how to start fixing things but also why they went wrong!
The exercises are easy to follow and Fran is so motivating.”

What Clients Say
“When I met Fran, I had the smallest hope that my voice could be rehabilitated, after years of miss-use and in turn- vocal fatigue. Not only did Fran achieve this for me, she inspired and taught me how to become a vocal coach myself. Fran’s approach and teaching methods, along with her impeccable knowledge of the voice has enabled me to reach goals I never thought possible. Fran is an astounding teacher!”
Hannah Walker, Sound of The Sirens
(“they are as tight as a drum, it doesn’t get much better than this” – Chris Evans, BBC Radio 2)
“I am profoundly deaf and despite many years of training with speech therapists, I still had substandard speech when I first came to Fran, in our very first session she quickly identified the main causes of my speech problems and developed a long term strategy on how to mitigate them. Her adaptable and holistic approach over the following months led to huge improvements in my speech which allowed me to charm my way into my current job working as a scientist in the Met Office!“
Mark Worsfold
“I can’t say anything other than positive about Fran. She is an outstanding individual to work with on a regular basis, and she is able to adapt her methods to your lifestyle/requirements.
Money spent with Fran would be one of the best investments – open, honest, knowledgeable, highly skilled and – most importantly – a very kind individual.”
